2003 225HO Ficht Max Rpm

I was just curious as to what rpm you guys are turning with these motors? Is there a safe zone or sweet spot with these motors? I am running a 205 vx ranger with a 6" manual jack plate, about 4" below pad and turning a 27" renegade....just got the boat so dont know what to expect....thanks

5750-5800 MAX! if you turn that you will be in the sweet range. If you aren't turning that raise the motor to 3.5 below then 1/4 inch increments, keeping an eye on the Water pressure, I personally won't run my 03 DI below 18 lbs wp.JMHO I'm getting about the same speeds with the 27 Gade as the 26 Raker. The Raker is a little faster but the Gade is more stabil and seems to bite quicker.

So are you saying that the Raker isnt worth it? Cause I was looking to purchase a 26 raker? Also are you getting 18 psi at wide open throttle? Thanks for the help!

I have both props and they both have their place. I'm getting 18-20 lbs wp @ wot on a 3 year old water pump!!

I'm curious also about where the RPM should be. I've got a 225 HO on a Ranger 520VX. Depending on the trim I can get 5800 to 6k. I've read where you shouldn't run past 5800. I can only get 64 - 65 MPH though. I see where others get low 70's. Would this be a prop, jack plate setting, ect..? I assume since the RPMs are being reached the motor is running like it should. Any thoughts?

Friend of mine is getting 68 tops on a 520 with the 250 hpdi. I think you're close what prop?? Prop to pad?

Not sure about the prop, currently talking w/ Mark about that. I measured my prop to pad height this evening using the method where you level the pad then measure from the floor to pad & prop center shaft to pad. I come up with 4 1/2". I see others at 3 1/2" so maybe there is a little speed here.

Im running a ranger 205 with an 03 225 ho, 6" jackplate, 27 renegade, roughly 4" prop to pad, and I had her running 69.5 mph at around 5500 rpm.
