    z520 rigging questions

Fished this last weekend out of another boat and forgot how nice it was to have flush mounted graphs. Going with a flush mount in the dash, but what is the largest Hummibird that will fit in the bow of a 2012 z520. I've got a 1197 and 998. The 998 is going in the console, but I may downsize up front...but probably figure out a mount for the big screen.

Mounting two dual Power Poles, jackplate mounts, C Monster foot control. Any suggestions or help on rigging that. I am rigging the boat myself.

Last, I will be mounting my Maxxum Pro 101 on it and have seen boats with the motor stowed over the top cap and over the carpeted area next to the top cap. Any thoughts? Pros or cons? Will be talking to Ranger Rodney about that bounce buster also to see if it will fit a Maxxum.

Mine gets here next week and I am nauseous with anticipation. I'll post lots of pics when I get it done.

    Thanks in advance,

I just rigged 2 new blades a couple of weeks ago......the only tight part is getting the pumps mounted into the hole in the splashwell area....I ended up mounting one in the splash well and turning a battery and putting one in the battery compartment. Even easier on a 4 stroke due to the lack of oil tank in that area. With the new C Monster system, mounting a switch on your dash or the new foot control is a breeze....everything is wireless now and really nice.

Yep, I went with a 4 stk, Merc Verado Pro on this one...

Thanks for the heads up. I will see what it looks like in there and act accordingly. I've seen the pumps mounted through the splash well cover, I was planning on mounting one on each side of the opening. Not doing a hydraulic plate yet, want to see if I need one. I know, to maximize the perf, I should have one, but I will try the regular first and see if I can get dialed in. My 2004 was dialed in nicely with a manual and I am hoping to do the same.

    Thank you,

Congrats on the boat. That 1197 is not going to flush mount in the bow face plate. I would certainly put that sucker up front though. Gimble or ram. I don't know why anyone would ever put the bigger unit at the console if you had a choice. The bow unit is the one you will use the most and it is better having a big screen for splits and staying on way points. Just my two cents

    Re: z520 rigging questions (adamat)

I know, I was wondering if a 998 would fit. Seems like a 700 series is the biggest. From the beginning I was planning on a hard mount like some that I have seen with the bigger units. I have not liked the larger RAM mount with my 998 up front and the 1100 will be even bigger.

    Thanks,

Have you thought about a gimble? There is a pic of a on a thread about guy asking about a ram. Another responding to the thread shows a 10" HDS on a gimble. How I have my front graph mounted, but not as big as the 1197

Any chance you could find and post a link to the page your talking about? I have an 8" Lowrance unit on the way for the bow and I'm trying to decide how I want to mount it. I just don't like the idea of a RAM up front.

I think I found the solution. RMC Boat Works e-lok mount. It seems to have a pretty solid mount, small foot print that can go in front of pedal and looks like it would hold up to a rogue wave.

I am interested in that gimbal pic...searching now.
