When was the Ficht problem solved?

I'm looking at a 1999 Stratos 285 PE with a 1999 Evinrude 175 Ficht. Some guys have said that the Ficht problems were solved with the 99 motors and others say it wasn't until 2000.

Does anyone know for sure? I'm walking if the 99 was a problem motor.

    Thanks,
    StratosQuo

The 2000 & up Ram motors are still running good.

There are a few of those motors still running with no problems............There are alot more of them that have been parted out.
