    05 225HO ETEC Question

    Model E225DHLSO S/N 05114016
The boat has been out about 8 times. My question is should it smoke after first start up of the day? When I first fire it up it lets a little puff of smoke. I let it warm up for a few minutes and then idle out of the no wake zone(no smoke at this time). While in the no wake area if I goose it it smokes pretty good. When I take off to get on plane it leaves some smoke when I first nail it. I know it is still on break in oiling. After the first time coming out of the hole it doesn't smoke the rest of the day. Just checking to see if this is normal while in break in oiling?
One more question though. Maybe 4 times while idling around I noticed a slight hickup where the motor just had a slight miss for a split second. Again it has only done this a very few times and it is just a split second like one miss. Is this something to be concerned with? I figured since it runs awesome, and I have idled around quite a bit checking out new lakes it didn't seem to big a deal. Just thought I would ask. Heck my brand new duramax diesel has a rough spot in the idle every once and again. Thanks for any replies. Oh before I forget is there anyway to tell when it comes off break in oiling or would a dealer have to hook up to let me know? Thanks again.

The only way I noticed my 06 225HO was out of double oil was when the oil consumption went to zero.... Also, mine has never, since day one, let out a single puff of smoke....

I would let the dealer check it out, as AB said it shouldn't do that!! The gurus will be on here shortly.

    What oil are you using?

Have you had any map upgrades or the deflector pins added?

    Re: 05 225HO ETEC Question (RUSTY63)

Rusty, I am running XD100 and don't know about the map upgrades or deflector pins. I got the boat april 27th and my dealer told me that all the upgrades were completed. Can it be checked through the serial number? I checked it tonight while I was out and no smoke but I am in texas at normal elevation. I have only noticed the smoke at 6000 feet in colorado. Could that have anything to do with it? Thanks guys.

    Re: 05 225HO ETEC Question (FSR1)

If you are at high altitude the I would say yes, there is less air by volume. If you have no smoke in Tejas, I'd say you are pretty good. You are a candidate for the PIN kits, can't tell you if they have been done , My computer is acting up. Will try to check for you tomorrow.

    Re: 05 225HO ETEC Question (rudetech1)

Heres the skinny. You need to get the latest update, you need to get the pins installed, and you need to have the cooling profile checked. The system shows that the pins have'ny been installed, nor has the latest map version. The cooling profile needs to be checked to make sur it isn't running too cool. And a check of the EMM can tell if the engine is still in the EXTRA OIL period. Hope this helps you out.

    Re: 05 225HO ETEC Question (E-tecRon)

The pin kit allows the spark plugs to last longer, lets the engine idle better. It's a quick job, but make sure the dealer has a kit in stock. This is a warranty item.
