I have a close friend in southern W Va who is a funeral director. Some of his services are held in the homes (remember the old Ray Stevens song about "Sittin' Up with the Dead?) and some are held in small rural churches. But, he HATES snakes. He told me that once someone goes to fetch the box of snakes, he's immediately out the door and down the road!

I watched it for the first time lastnight simply because daughter in law knew the woman with snake in basement & said her daughter told her they planted the snake. Director was also telling them to talk more country. Complete BS for sure & the dumbest show I ever saw. However there are for sure several snake handling churches in the mountians of Ky.

Ive been bitten with chaps on by a 47in eastern diamondback on my strip job.
t felt like someone hit me with a golf club on my leg. Even though the fangs didnt come close to penetrating, it still hurt a bit.

its really prevelant in Mcdowell county and the border of Mingo county and V.A.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's 'prevalent'. There are FAR more "normal" churches in the area than there are snake handlers. But, I'd say a high percentage of the snake-handling churches in the US is in the area you mentioned.

It is strange he has'nt been blessed with a job. He does'nt work and his family before worked very little. Local newspaper and radio station advertise every week for coal mines wanting workers.
He seems to be smart enough to hold a job, he does'nt want one bad enough.
I say within a year somehow he will get that log home he wants.
They have a computer and no auto washer, only in America!!!
