johnson 200 not charging

Ok, well i had the flywheel replaced this past summer due to the magnets came loose.
After that i found that the motor wasnt charging my cranking battery.
Checked everything with the battery and connections.

going by previous posts i found, i unplugged the regulator from the stator.
with an ohm meter i checked continuity between the 2 yellow wires and was fine.
i then checked each of them to ground and that was fine.

Going by what i have read i should have continuity between the 2 yellows and not from either of them to ground.
this meaning the stator is ok, which i figured since the tach works fine.

Only thing else it could be is the regulator from what i have been told, but would like the advise of the ones who know.

Tach acting crazy? VR would be my choice.

The tach works fine, no problems anywhere other than its not charging the battery

Have you measured the battery volts before cranking and when running? And no wing nuts on the cranking battery?

Yeah, i measured voltage before starting at 12.65
after starting it stayed the same, after being on the water for a little while i checked again after runnin pumps and graphs, it was at 12.52 then started it stayed the same, the voltage never whent up.

it had wingnuts on it, but replaced with SS nuts

this was all at idle, i didnt rev the engine other than the quick start for a few seconds

How much should i expect to see at idle?

Increase RPM and voltage should rise. Battery should also be tested.

ok, ill try that before i do anything else.
only reason for concern, i was in a tournament runnin the pumps and graphs all day and ended up with a dead battery.
jumped it off the trolling motor batts to get back to the ramp, after about a 3 mile run it still would start the motor.

The tach can be working fine even though the batteries are not getting charged. That model has a separate circuit to generate the tach signal that is independent of the voltage regulation.

Trouble shoot the charging system per the service manual. You need a quality digital ohmmeter to read the stator as its resistance is less than 1 ohm.
