    Seized/Rounded lug nuts

Have a tire going down on my trailer. No problem, I thought. I'll just take it off and get it to a tire shop. Got all the lugs to break loose - except one. It's apparently seized and is now rounded off to the point no socket I own will get a bite. Overnight soak with PB Blaster was no help. Would appreciate info from any folks that have dealt with the situation. FWIW, it's a 2007 MFI/Triton tandem. THANKS and Happy New Year!

sears sells a special socket that will work to remove it, if it's that tight you may break the stud but they can be replaced without too much issue.

Thanks for that info, SL. Going to give those a try!

UPDATE: Happy to report successful solution with no apparent collateral damage. My local Advanced Auto had a similar product. This one an Irwin "Bolt Grip" socket. The 5 piece set covers 5/16" to 3/4" and 8mm to 19mm. At $25.50 for the set it was money WELL spent. An impact wrench and 1/2" breaker bar w/cheater provided power.

Anti-seize was DEFINITELY used on reassembly. Pulled the other 3 wheels off today, cleaned the studs and reassembled with anti-seize. Don't want to deal with that issue again. Was real close to getting ugly!

You fresh water guys for the most part are not used to dealing with corrosion. I got into the habit of using anti-sieze on everything that bcomes within a hundred feet of the water.Hell i even had rear lug nuts sieze on the tow vehicle. It is a habit I still apply to my bass boat even though it will never see salt water.

Found out it scared my fishing buddy so I bought a smaller Stratos with a smaller Johnson

Glad you got it. Many times a little heat from a torch will let you loosen stubborn bolts or nuts.

jbh3, Don't forget to re-torque your lug nuts after the first 50-100 miles!

Thanks guys. I've got the wrench laying out to remind me. If this cold a$$ed weather will ever break, I'll try to get some miles on it. Have a good one!
