Underside repair on strakes- ?

Any links or pics to show a good way to repair "rock rash" on under side of a bassboat? Everything I find on line is about repairing a flat surface or a hole.
My strake on one side has some bad surface damage, to fibergalss matting but, not through it. I think I can do my self but, not sure the best way to keep the contour of strake. I have about three 5-8 inch long area about 1 inch wide. Is it worth masking off or just fading/blending gel coat so, I will not have as much to sand? How do I know how much material to buy. I have done minor stuff on same boat before on keal but, not this big. I figure it on the bottom so I don't care if it is not a perfect color match but, do not want to loose any performance. Perhaps such links could be posted and kept at the top of this board?

I'd like to know this myself. I have some contact areas to the matting but not leaking either.

Reparing a " Strake " is the same as repairing a flat surface, only you will be building up the strake to match the contour, which is done by hand.

Is your gouge on the angled part of the strake ? If so you'll need to build it up in layers to match the original contour.
Easiest fix is using Marine- Tex.

    One package on Marine-Tex should repair three 5" x 1 " gouges.

Thank you. The whole strake is gone for about 5-8 inches. Didn't know if there was a shaped tool for such a repair. Supose I could make one out of a pop can or something. Otherwise, I was thinking of using a long ruler length wise to help shape it.

Can I use white Maine-Tex with color and sand smooth and shiny or do need to color match a polyester gel coat to go over it for it to not be a noticable repair?
