Hi Guys,
I have a Shimano Crucial Drop-shot rod. When I took it out to look at it over the weekend I noticed a tiny chip in the finish coat. What can I used to seal it so moisture doesn't get into the finish? I gues I'm asking what you guys who build your own rods use as a finish coat.

On the blank or wrap?
On the blank, I would use Perma Gloss. On the wrap, you can use Perma Gloss, but could also take off the epoxy, and then apply new epoxy to cover the guide wrap (any 2 part will work, or multiple coats of PG).
As a quick, permanent fix without all of the mixing and rod drying just use PG.
This would be the rod blank finish. I have heard of people using epoxy or clear nail polish as a remedy, however I don't want to use the wrong product and damage the rod.

Permagloss is perfect for touching up small chips. It will blend well with the old finish, it doesn't have to be mixed like a two part finish, and it's hard as nails. You can use it on the blank or thread wraps. Just don't leave the cap off the bottle too long. That stuff crusts up quick.
