Rod blank painting

I have never really had the desire to paint rod blanks before but I have being doing some experimenting with some things lately.

For those of you that do paint your rod blanks what method do you prefer? I read a post on here a long time ago that had some great tips and recommended a paint provider which I have tried and the results were terrific but I used the cans and it was a very messy process with a lot of overspray.

What are you guys using?

I have been wondering the same thing, there's a product made by plasti-kote called kustom effex has a base coat, color coat,and a clear coat. haven't use it yet but might play around too. its a spray doesn't cost that much base and finish about 4.50 color coat is 8.00 bucks. If I try it I'll let you know

I've only painted 1 blank, and I just used regular spray paint and coated with Flex Coat Lite formula. I went over it with 0000 steel wool to get a matte finish. I did it about 4 or 5 years ago and it's held up really well. I just put cheap plastic drop cloths down under it to protect from overspray.
