    Carp

Taking my 7 year old kid to a DARE T on lake Russell on the 12th. My son has to weigh in his own fish (any species) my fish won't count. They are going to chum the creek for carp befor the T.
Anyway I've never fished for carp on purpose. Any advise and or doughball/bait recomendations would be apreciated.

    Re: Carp (shawn706)

I haven't been able to eat Wheaties since I was a kid and used them to fish for carp. Take a handful, dip in water squeeze into a ball around a treble hook. Makes a nice bait that is very castable. Didn't find out I was poor white trash, until I joined the AF, ate may a meal of Carp cakes.

    Re: Carp (20_lb_sack)

I swiped this from another forum. Supposedly the strawberry jell-o is the key. I'm sure the wheaties could be substituted.

    DOUGH BALL (FISH BAIT)

    2 CUPS CORNMEAL
    1 CUP FLOUR
    2 TBLSPOON SUGAR
1 PKG. STRAWBERRY JELLO (SMALL BOX)
    1 TSP VANILLA

HEAT 1 PINT WATER TO BOILING ADD DRY INGREDIENTS -SIMMER SEVERAL MINUTES. TAKE OFF HEAT. COVER WITH LID FOR 2 MINUTES. STIR AND COOL FORM INTO SMALL BALLS (BAIT)

    Re: Carp (20_lb_sack)

We used to form the ball around a big treble hook and stick kernels of corn on the tips.
Granted I was 12 and I thought it was fun...
