So there we were on the beautiful Pamunkey. We had just put 5-6 keeper bass in the boat when suddenly, Mike says "got one".

For nearly 20 minutes we chased this fish with the trolling motor across the river several times. Mike was using 10lb test and he didnt want to horse the fish up. I had visions of my buddy Mike Allen posing with the new world record (or Virginia State) record smallmouth.

The fish finally comes up enough to see the tail. I think I muttered something such as "we need a bigger boat". I think Mike said something like "damn that thing is as big as Original Trickworm"

In all honesty, once he was able to pull that fish up along side of the boat, it was easily 50lb+.
