    Going to Choke Canyon

The first week of march. I posted on here earlier in the week asking about Falcon, but have decided on choke. We will be staying at the Bass Inn by the lake. Couple of questions:
Is the bass inn an OK place to stay - I want get my windows busted in at night?
Can anyone give me some points about choke canyon this time of the yr? Is the spawn ussually on now?? Thanks for any help!

Take your own sheets. Other than that it's a place that has a bed and a shower. Spawn should be going on with the first or even the second wave going.

I would not stay at the bass inn if you paid me to . the Econo lodge ,best western or choke canyon lodge are way better... I would start shallow and work your way out to about 25' and a t-rig lizzard in watermelon red or junebug work well .also cranks in chartruse with a blue back can produce well .

Ditto on the Bass Inn thing.

    Econo-lodge is much better.

I have one good point I always fish down there, so can't help ya much when it comes to the fishin side of it.

I wouldn't recommend the Bass Inn to anyone, it is always filthy. The Econo-Lodge is nice, and has nice little Mexican food restaurant directly across the street. Here is the info for the Three Rivers Econo-Lodge. It is located at 1401 N. Harborth Ave. , the phone # is (361)786-3563. Fax # (361)786-2628.

I gotta agree with them on the Bass Inn. That place was alright back in the 80's, but has really gone downhill. Only good thing about the place is that they have electrical outlets outside by the parking spots.

You should be safe at any of those places in 3-rivers. Of course, you still want to lock up everything you can. You don't want to offer your stuff to anyone.

I haven't fished down there in several months. If I was going down there, I'd start in the 4-fingers area. The water is probably still cold and stirred up from all the rain. I recommend fishing just outside of spawning coves in 10-20ft of water. There are little bushes everywhere on the bottom, so make sure you have stout tackle. The dark colors are good on T-rigs and C-rigs. Just keep your bait on bottom and moving slow.

The bass Inn is not the best place to stay however its has a bed and shower and not much more. The restruant that was close by is closed so if you want to eat you have to drive 11 miles back to town. As fair is the fishing goes you should their just as the spown is starting unless it turns cold then it may a little later.

Re: Going to Choke Canyon (10 lbs or bust)

I will be leaving on Feb 26th for a week to fish Choke/Fallcon from Praireville. I grew up fishing those two lakes. We are staying at the Econo Lodge in Three Rivers while we are there. It is not a long drive from Three Rivers to the lake so it is better to stay in town..IMO
