Troubles filling up at the pump

I have a 2006 200 Pro XL and no matter where I go I can never squeeze the handle past half and most times I can't even do that. At some pumps I can't even get gas in at all. Most times it will blow back out. Anyone know how I can fix this? It takes a really long time to get 40 gal in the tank when I can only pump with the handle at a trickle.

    Thanks,

    John K

Turn the nozzle upside down, and only insert an inch or two when filling. Ya gotta tease it a little.

Seriously. That's th eonly way I could fill my 285 without getting backsplash. My Phoenix does the same thing...

Re: Troubles filling up at the pump (jkleino)

I have not had the trouble on my Stratos but with my old Triton gas would get in the vent tube and cause this problem. It could also be a kinked vent tube.

On my Toon I would blow air through the tank to clear the vent tube. No real high pressure and I would try to block the large gas opening with the air nozzle and a clean rag to force the air pressure through the vent tube.

Take a 3-4' length of 2x4 and throw it in the back of your truck. Whenever you stop for gas stop a few feet short of the pump, throw the 2x4 in front of your tailer tires on the gas tank side, and pull forward up on to it. Then pump away at full flow.

I have the same problem and had the same problem with my Champion boat. The 2x4 solves the problem. Just don't forget to pick up your 2x4 when you're done. Don't ask me how I know that!

That's a great idea right there.
My 95 would spit gas for 45 minutes.

BillyBass is right. The 2x4 works good.

My boat does the same thing and I try to pull up to the pumps where the fill side is on an incline, or use the 2X4.

Had the same problem on my 91 when hooked to my Denali, but didn't have it when hooked to my Silverado. I noticed I had 2 different ball heights on my hitch. You may need to get a lower hitch. Or the 2x4 works also.

I have an '06 201XL and had the same problem. The 2X4 trick will work or just make sure that if there's any slope you are filling from the higher side.

I guess I need to get me a 2X4 and flip the nozzle upside down. I have the same problem. I got soaked with gas on my first try at it.
    Thanks guys!
