    2004 ZX225 Dual Console - Pro/Cons ??? Considering a Used one

I am considering a used Skeeter and was looking on input on the specific model/set-up from others who own one. Looking for Pro & Con for the model & engine and perhaps specific things to look at when going over boat.

I checked NADA, but any current real world pricing estimates?

    Thanks!!!!

I would get the serial number of the motor and have it checked for the updates to the earlier HPDIs. Other than that, you won't be disappointed in the ZX225.

You won't be disappointed... what's the asking price and how many hours are on the motor?

    Any pics?

    Re: 2004 ZX225 Dual Console - Pro/Cons ??? Considering a Used one (MdKamper)

MdKamper, I used to have a dual console boat. I purchased it with the thought of my fishing partner in mind (wind, rain, ect). However, I would loose fish because of the passenger console getting in the way. Of either the net man or the fish diving when they get to that side.

If you do not tournament fish and it is just you and the kids or wife or buddy then the dual console would be the way to go.

If you do fish tournaments, I would think about it first. I was thinking of my fishing partner when I was buying my second boat when someone asked me a great question that helped me make my decision.

”How many boat payments is your fishing partner going to make?

This help me decide quick. Also without the console, there is a lot more room.

The final decision is yours of course. I am just trying to throw some info
your way to help you make an informed decision.

I fished dual consoles for 15 years and the wind break is nice for your passenger. But my new dream boat is a single and I love it. I often have my 2 boys with me or my dad and 1 boy and the room is necessary. In tournaments, the fishability is not even close between the two styles. Go single unless your passenger is a co-owner or wife.

My opinion is dual console boats look better. As far as fish-ability, I guess either I am an awesome fisherman or I haven't fished enough cause I just cant see the excuse that the console got in the way. Maybe to some it does.
As far as it being a Skeeter, I think you are on the right track !!

    Re: 2004 ZX225 Dual Console - Pro/Cons ??? Considering a Used one

Thanks for everyone's input on the Dual Console ...

    My thoughts for it are:
The boat I have fished from the most is my friend's Ranger that is a dual console and I have been thankful for the wind break and to be honest have never felt either console has caused me to lose a fish. (I can do that just standing on the shore, I don't need any help from the boat )

I expect to fish with a partner the majority of the time, whether it being my son, friend or most importantly the wife who will be co-owner and number one to make happy!

And I do like the looks of the Dual Console

Keep the thoughts coming tho, I hope to make this a longterm purchase and not want something new 3 months after I get it so I'm looking for experience from those of you who have it.

The 2004 ZX225 is a GREAT platform. Excellent fishability with above average performace. Good rough water ride as well. You can probably get it for $20,000-22,000 depending on condition.
As far as the dual console you can count me as one that would rather have a single console. Biggest reason is I swing a lot of fish over the side and the console gets in the way of that. Also much easier and more room when you sit down to retie. If you notice most hardcore tournament fishermen and pros run a single console but past that its just personal preference. Dual may help a bit with resale too.
