Has anyone taken their dual console out, on a 07 and up zx boat? Thinking of removing it, and maybe if I take a shit right before blastoff, I might get 73 out of my boat!hahaha. Really, I'd just like a little more room.
Seriously though, have any of you done this? I thought someone out there might save me alot of head scratching.
If it was factory installed, you are going to tear some glass up removing it.
I've done it... Its not as easy as it appears it would be....
The factory uses some type of strong black adhesive along with the bolts... That being said, I did get it done by removing bolts, I made 3-4 thin wedges out of Delrin (plastic similar to nylon) pounded them in until it popped. And she popped! by evenly doing the wedges it only took mybe 1 tiny chip out of the console(tiny)... Most of the adhesive was left on the hull... I did get some off with gasket remover, but in the heavy areas it looked like the gasket remover was effecting the gelcoat.... So, I left the adhesive and bolt holes and had a custom cover water jet cut out of stainless to cover everything. Most people thing the plate is factory... If I can figure out how to post a pic I will put one up of the finished job.

Also if you bought a Skeeter for speed alone you probably should run another brand. A Skeeter ios made to fish and do it well. The go fast stuff is for them other guys that like to spend more time wiping their boats down than fishing.

Hey, that's cool. I've got access to a flo jet machine, but it sounds like it's alot of trouble. I'd hate to tear up anything. It looks like since they call them a "removable" console, they'd make it a little more user friendly, taking it out. You did a great job.
Got other plans for the bug. I STILL wipe my boat down, don't you??????hahaha. No one wants to buy a boat that hasn't been cared for.
I love my skeeter. It's the sub-par motor that they put on all of them, that really pisses me off.

Yep I wipe it down and take care of it but its just not a parade float though. I usually get mine sold within 2 weeks of listing it so I am not gonna become a boat wiper any time soon like some folks are. I fish hard and I go where the fish are. The boat is just a tool to get there.

That's a VERY nice lookin bug ya got there harebawl!! Awesome job on that stainless piece! it DEFINITELY looks factory....actually better than factory IMO. Still got that console? I wonder if it would fit on my 03 TXZ190?
what's so bad about Yamahas? I love my VMAX 150. I wouldn't want anything other than a Yamaha on the back of my boat, but we bass guys tend to get a little partial (not to mention defensive) about our boats & motors!! at least there isn't a Motor Guide on the front!! lol

Well, got the console out yesterday. It's definitely a two hour job. I don't know what the black adhesive stuff is, but I'd like to have some of it. The trick with the wedges worked very well, thanks. I made several wedges out of wooden paint stir sticks, and just sharpened the end with a grinding wheel.
I'm for sure going to have to make a plate to cover the area. There doesn't seem to be any other way of cleaning the looks up.
