    Warning light probplem on a 99 186SX

    I have a 1999 186 SX.
There are 2 warning lights on the dash.
    1. Overheating
    2. Low oil.
When I turn on the key the low oil light comes on then goes off after a few seconds. I assume this is a test to make sure the lights are working properly.
The overheat light does not come on during this test. I have replaced the light thinking maybe the bulb was burnt out but the light still does not come on. Are these lights a secondary warning?? Does this boat also have an alarm to sound off?
The motor is a Vmax 150hp, 1999 model also.
Thanks in advance for any help on this subject.

The low oil light will do that each time you turn the key on, it is normal. The overheat light will not come on unless it actually overheats. It will also sound an alarm if it overheats or has a low oil issue.

Thanks for the replies. I was a little worried that something was not hooked up was the reason for the overheat light not to come on with the key. I also didnt know my boat was equiped with a warning alarm. My previous boat (Astro with a Evinrude) had an alarm that would chime as soon as the key was turned on.

If you dont mind me asking what prop are you running?
My boat has a 23P that I guess is the factory prop. My boat has a tendency to porpious when cruising around 35 mph after it is trimmed up a bit. If you nail it, it will pull out of the porpious. From what I have read the factory prop may not have enough cup ???

Just trim down. T that speed, you do not have to trim 1/4 of the way
