Want to supercharge your sentativity on the TH Marine 2 way alarm? After much experimentation, I've got mine where you can tap a finger on the trailer fender, power pole, or trolling motor nose cone, and it will trip. Even a car drving by will trip it as well as a light rubmble of thunder off in the distance.
Here's how...
What you are looking at is the underside of the decking, just to the right of the driver's console. The flat fiberglass towards the top of the photograph is the underside of the rubberized step area adjacent to the console. It can be accessed through the master control panel for adjustment and programing.
What makes this location so desirable is it's proximity to the forward compartments as well as its proximity to the driver's console through bolts. This mounting area is also a solid inch thick piece of dense composit, further enhancing sensativity.
When you mount it here, make sure that you press it firmly up against the through bolt. That way any vibrations from the console are transmited directly into the shock sensor (flush mount sonar guys take note).
The two sided tape that comes wih the kit is sized to the cover the entire bottom of the shock sensor. It is important to reduce the 2 sided tape's size to that of a half doller, and run a thick bead of 3M 5200 around the bottom of the shock sensor. Where the 2 sided tape isolates the shock sensor from vibration, the cured 5200 will enhance it! The sensor will become one with the deck, dramatically enhancing it's abilities.
I found this to be a great place to mount the antenna. Up high on the back side of the sonar blank is about as high up on the boat as you can place it. This should aid in reception to the two way pager. While I have not tested the 3,000 meter range claim, I can assure you it wroks well at several hundred yards and through multiple solid block walls. From this mounting location, running wires to the shock sensor is easy, as you can just go through the console rigging tube and come out just to the left of the sensor.
Mounting the siren is personal preference. I started with it inside the console so it cannot be tampered with but the decibles were just to reduced. Mounting it outside somewhere made the noise level uncomfortable for anyone inside the boat (bordering on pain). For obvious reasons, we'll leave that location private.
I hope this helps anyone experimenting with a 2 way alarm on their Phoenix.
What a great prduct!
