What size jp did you have on it before? Buddy has a 12" plate and with a 225 EFI and he runs about the same as my 200 efi with an 8" plate. If you get some good numbners I would like to know what your setup is.

Good luck at Amistad!! Should be plenty HOT down there! Fishing and Temps!

Re: paca - see you at Amistad this weekend... (Tx 201)

Tx201 - the trip was pretty awesome. I boated 58 fish (touched) on Saturday. Lost a ton, missed a ton, and let quite a few get off on purpose... Mainly topwater fish during the heat of hte day - blue bird skies. Not typical... Numerous 3-4#ers. My boat partners caught appx. 60 and 20 respectively - but they didn't count theirs.

Boat still runs like a turd... GPS 68 @ WOT solo. Still only getting 5300 RPMs max with the 12" plate @ 2.5" below pad. Water pressure still over 20. 5' Rooster tail. Sure was expecting to break 70 with 1 man in the boat - actually thought I might get it with 2 men and BPS on board... I've moved the plate up and down 1/4" and lose 2MPH, rest stays appx. the same. Cavitates after break-over, unless you let off quite a bit which is fine with me. I do like the 12" JP better (engine sound is MUCH quieter which I wasn't expecting and it rides like a bigger boat.)

Sounds great on the fishing, sorry to hear about the boat issues. Seems like a 5' rt is still pretty high.

I now have a floating Bass Pro Shop in my boat, so top end suffers, but it does come out of the hole great and I never blow out. Mine is set at 3.25 below and my mechanic at Sandy Creek Marine in Breckenridge said a 1/4 lower would help carry the bow a little higher and keep the psi at 20 and fully trimmed WOT.

I am no expert, but it seems from all the posts I have looked at and guys I have talked to, other than Ben that is using a 15" JP, once you get above 3" below, all the numbers suffer.

So if I have a club tourney at Nastywater sometime, can I call you for info?

Isn't max RPM for a 225 Opti 5750? May want to drop down in pitch some to get your RPMs back up unless you are having motor issues. On the 20' Champion hulls, they seem to get better lift and run faster with a Tempest. Didn't know how the Cobras do with one vs the other.

Rangerguy here in Abilene has a 225 Opti on his 492VS & he couldn't turn a 26 Trophy. He had to drop to a 25 to get RPM up to 5700. Then again, he drives a lead sled!! I have a 25 Tempest on my Champ 201 with a 200 EFI
