Whos headed to the Oxy, Amistad this weekend, got any tips?

I need some Amistad tips. All I know to do right now is look for some trees in 12-20 feet and throw c rigs, big worms on tx rigs and heavy spinner baits in the tips of the trees and mayve some deep cranks! Anyone got anything else thats working? How about a seceret location??? Hahah, thanks

I was told to look for grass in 20-25ft of water, and drop some 1-1/2oz. jigs down there. It didn't work for me, but that's what the locals suggest. I do better pitchin centepedes and senkos around shallow grass and brush. There weren't really any big ones up shallow, but at least I was catching fish.

All my tips would be related to the grass.(cabbage) The only time I fish a bank at Amistad is during the spawn. The rest is spent looking for GOOD grass. The grass is not as prevalant this year. so when you find the good stuff it will be loaded.
The next step is to figure out how they are relating to it...Are they under it, on top of it, on the insde edge or the out side edge.. do they want a reaction bite or a slow presentation. do they want it coming towards them or going away ??????
This year my fish have changed so much it makes me dizzy. If you have a good area----they have stayed--however every day or even by the hour can be different as to what it will take to trigger them.
I fish a few tournaments with Trent Huckaby who just won the BASS open down there. Pretty impressive if you look at the names who fished it there were about half a dozen who fish the Elite 100 series. He told me Sat. morning going out the last day "he was out of fish" As it turned out he caught 15 pounds off the same stuff.......which was enough to move from 3rd to 1st......my point is he had a good area and was able to adapt. Wheras the leader was not and went fishless on the last day.
If the fish are in it you have to go where they are. (jigs & heavy Tex. rigs) If they are on top I like a rattltrap if they are on the edges--- carolina rig or deep c-bait..if there on the ends or points of grass drop shot...tex rig...
    Good luck !
I will be fishing a week long championship starting Sat. I would love to hear your reports however the lake is off limits and we can't solicit any info. And since I'm a director I better play by the rules.
