I need some help with this please. I have a 2000 225 Ficht. I have been told different things about indexing my plugs. Some have told me I do not have to and others told me I need to. The digram I saw has indexing for 98-99 motors. What is the deal do I or dont I????:doh Also now that I am able to use the QC10WEP plugs does the gap size change?? Do these need to be indexed???
Yes, and Yes. Look at the post above about indexing plugs by Seahorse.
Index your plugs, regardless of what plugs you use. When indexing, just make sure the open gap of the plug is with in 90 deg, left or right of the injector.
Personally, I don't like my plug openings more then 45 deg from either side of the injector. I noticed, when I 1st changed plugs myself, that on the plugs that were facing 90 deg from the injector, they had carbon buildup on the plugs.
BTW, it'll run even if the plugs aren't indexed, but your plugs will carbon up real quick.
