Alarm sounds at 2500 rpm

I have an 05 Merc Optimax 225. when I rev the engine above 2500 rpm in neutral I get an alarm. I don't get the alarm when it's in gear at any rpm. Anyone know if this normal? Maybe a feature of the engine to prevent over reving. Water pressure runs about 12-15 psi at WOT and 5 psi at idle

Neutral over-rev alarm. No need to do that anyway!

Don't be revving it in neutral above 1500 anyway, as if a warranty issue comes up it could be considered abuse

The alarms are recorded in the computer memory
