Advice; Mississinewa or Salamonie for a weekend fishing/camping trip?

Hi all; my buddy who I grew up with but don't see much since he moved to Indiana are planning a long weekend trip to either of these 2 lakes. We will be going the first or second weekend of October. We will camp at the state park campground and am looking for advice as to which lake is better fishing in early October and which has a nicer campground? we will be tent camping. Also when do they begin the winter drawdown on these lakes? Thanks in advance for any advice

My personal opinion is do not go to Miss-A-NO-FISH-A-wa.......

I may have not not given it a very good as we were fishing in July. The lake is pretty neat as far as the lay out goes... no grass that I know of there but this is a couple years ago.

We rented a little cabin at the camp ground which was nice. You can locate at the Indiana DNR website.

    Never been to Salamonie...

I go to Salamonie every Summer. Not sure about the Fall but i'm sure you will have fun.

Lot's of Crappie and smaller Bass, at least i've never caught big one's at Salamonie.

One nice thing about Salamonie is your boat is banked right at the botton of the hill, just get in and go whenever you feel the urge.

I always stay in section 3 Lost Bridge West, you can keep an eye on the boat.

IM me if you have any ?'s, i'm pretty familiar with Salamonie

Mississinewa would be my choice. Very nice camp grounds with showers, boat ramp and indoor fish cleaning station. The crappie bite will be real good around that time. The average will be 9-10" with some bigger ones up to 16". Minnows 6' down around stick ups will work. Last year they start the winter draw down around Oct 16th.

I'd throw in a vote for Mississinewa too. I used to live in Marion and fished both lakes a lot. Salamonie has some good bass in it, but I've always done much better at Mississinewa. Campgrounds are pretty much the same, or at least used to be.
