I just bought my first bass boat and it has a livewell. I never had the luck of having one. My question is does the livewell recirculate the water or refill from the lake? It has the aerator at the top and another hole, Im guessing is the high water drain back into the lake? The drain at the bottom is for draining at the end of the day not circulation right?

Not knowing your setup, here are some typical livewell features. The hole at the top is overflow. If your 'pump in' has a timer (usually switched up for the timer feature, down for manual, or constant on), then as it adds water the excess will go out the overflow hole at the top. You probably have a hole with a screen over it, and that is the recirulation port. When you recirculate, you are only moving the water that is currently in the livewell. If you have a jet at the top, you push it in and it fills; if you pull it out then it recirculates. The hole in the bottom is the drain. Hope this helps.
It is a 97 astro 162 fish, it has the same setup as a 165 procraft if you want to look online at it. I will have to look when i get home to see about the hole with the screen. It has a horzontal nozzle at the top with holes in it from the pump. I don't think it has a timer on it just a manual switch but ill check that too. I guess I dont understand what you mean by pulling or pushing the jet. Thanks for the help
Some don't have the features that I mentioned. You might want to put this post on the Astro forum - there is probably someone with the same setup as yours on there.
