How to get a fish out of the livewell?

Someone asked this over in the lounge, so I thought I'd throw it out here too.

Rather than chase your fish around the livewell, get a livewell landing net. Bass Pro Shops sells one for ten bucks that's nice, but you can get a little aluminum net at Wally World for five bucks or so that is made for a wading trout fisherman, that will do the same job. I used to just leave mine in my livewell all the time.

It's easier than chasing the fish around, unless you leave it in the livewell, you don't have to get your arm wet, less chance of a panicked fish jumping out of the livewell, and it's a lot easier on the fish. Just scoop 'em up and into your weigh-in bag.

Bass Pro Shops Livewell Landing net. $9.99

what i did was got an old fish stringer like we used when we were kids with the safty pin style hooks
got a roll of stagen like catfisherman use
and some floats of diffrent colors
took the hooks off the stringer, tied 1 end of a short piece of the stagento it and the other end of the stagen to the float.
hook fish when caught and when you need to take them out just grab the float.
if you want you can get a dry erase board to jot down weights with colored floats then you know which one you are lookin for when needing to cull

So, I'm not the only genius on here... wasn't paying 20 bucks for a cull-em rite, so I made a set for about 6 bucks...
I use a 20" steel leader doubled with clear plastic tubing over it, with the bobber and snap... I put one bobber with the white side up for the cull fish, the others will have orange up... you can see them stored under my lid on the Cook's go-to website...

Buy a Triton, hit pumpout switch, water goes out, reach in and grab fish by lip. They can be had for $40,000.00

Re: How to get a fish out of the livewell? (Chris Brewton)

The pro Shops deal with the crankbaits on one end and a hook snap on the other work for me... I even put a cheap white dishmat on the floor of my main livewell... also, I numbered each float (crankbait)... put quality fish on #1-2 and such while barely measures go on #6-7... as a start...
also a side issue: never pour the water out of your weigh bag... then you put fish back into a dry bag...not good for survival...take the fish out one-by-one...
