This just happened tonight. The wind blew me into a dock with an aluminum edge. The spot is right on the nose about the size of a quarter. It is on the top cap in the metal flake. It makes me sick because other than that spot, my boat is in near perfect shape. Any ideas how much something like should cost to get fixed? I know you can be exact without pics but it is about the size of a quarter. I actually looks like it got hit with a hammer. Thanks for the help!
your boat is only new the first day. dock rash is a fact of life for boat owners unless, you have a trailer queen. I equate dock rash with hitting a deer with your auto. Soon as you get it fixed, another will jump out in front of you and you will hit it again...............................markmcisaacinc .com
Impact crack. Depends on how far down the cracks go, if they are only in the clear gel they may be able to be sanded down enough to be nearly invisible.
If they go into the colored gel they will have to be taken out down to the glass/resin mat and new matching gel put on and blended.
In a competent shop, couple hundred to do it right.
Your right about the deer scenario. If it were just for me I wouldn't be too concerned. But I just put the boat up for sale not long ago. It is really not a huge deal. Not enough to keep someone from buying the boat. I am just more of a perfectionist than I need to be. Thanks for the replies. I guess I will have my local fiberglass guy take a look at it.
