Hot, hot and #$&@ hot, but I had to get the boat out. They are pumping water out for Shawnee and the lake level is down about 4 feet. Water was stirred muddy around the shorline and in the coves. Clear out towards the center. Air temp was 102 and water temp varied from 88 to 91 degrees. Had a lot of bumps and caught a few white bass just about everywhere. Bigger school working the surface in the middle of the lake by the west end bouys. Caught a few dinks around the road bed on a chart/white spinnerbait slow rolling. Used a shaky head worm on the south side of the west end around tree stumps and pick up a few more. Marked a lot of fish hanging around the 7 to 8 foot depth in some structure, Was going to get out the drop shot but the wife was getting hot se we headed home.
Now about the alleged gator that someone reported seeing in the lake. I did see several alligator snapping turtles, one was about 3 foot long in the same cove that they reported seeing a gator in. There was another one on the south side of the west end just after the first cove. Tried to get the camera out and snap a shot but they scurried away after seeing us. Wondering if someone thought that the alligator snapping turtle was a gator...who knows. This may be my last fishing report for a while. I may be going down to Florida for about 30 days starting next weekend.
