Looking for a 7' Spinning Rod

I am looking for a multi purpose rod for my son. We mostly fish for bass, but do tangle with northerns and the occasional walleye. Something that he can throw medium to deep cranks, senkos, traps and frogs. I am having a hard time deciding between medium or medium heavy. Most medium heavy's seem real stiff. I'm partial to cork handles. Looking to stay under $125. Any suggestions appreciated.

I think a MH is going to be the best fit when you add in deep cranks and frogs. I have a few Falcons...Original, Expert and the Cara (not the Reaction T7), and find them all to have a nice parabolic bend. The Original has plenty of sensitivity for Senkos. My Cara is more a cranking rod, and so haven't tried it with baits requiring much sensitivity. You can find an Expert only on the used market. I like mine! A Falcon would definitely need to be a MH as all my Mediums top out at 1/2 oz.

Another rod that has been getting really good reviews is the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth series. Buy from Red's Gear on Amazon when they go on sale. A diligent search should turn up at least one other online seller asking less than $95 for this rod.

I'm sure someone is going to mention the Veritas. I'm thinking about picking up one to go with the Chronarh 101A I just bought. The Medium is only rated to 5/8 oz., so in your case I would still opt for a MH. TFF is selling them for $75.

dobyns savvy 703 would be a nice rod- maybe a little light for frogs but should cover all the other apps listed.
