Question on Graphite Trigger Reel Seat??

I have a 7'6" Flipping stick, the trigger broke all the way into the seat. I need some help on how to get the trigger off so that I can replace with a new one. If it is even possible to replace. To give you an idea what I have from the botton up - the rod has a but cap, 12" of cork then the reel seat and 4" cork section above the seat. Any help will be appricaiated.

Re: Question on Graphite Trigger Reel Seat?? (Steve O.)

You are gonna have a hard time going from the bottom up. Rods are built from the top, the cork rings and reel seat are brought down from the top and then the guides are put on.

You COULD get a reel seat without an exposed finger area in a large size and use graphite arbors to shim it up. Won't be able to go with cork from the bottom because the diameter you'll have to ream it out. You could get away with eva foam possibly.

Best bet is to strip the guides off the rod, remove the seat and put a new seat on, then rewrap the rod.

You can cut the reel seat off with a dremel cut off wheel down each side, be careful not to cut into the blank. Or you can try putting it in boiling water to break the epoxy loose.
