I finished a batch of almost 200 jigs & the powder paint is chipping way to easy. I used a heat gun & a fluid bed & I used 5 different colors. I don't understand what I did wrong. Any ideas?

did you bake them in the oven....250* afterwards?
You have to cure them when your done. I do mine at 400 in my toaster oven for 1 hour.
My toaster oven is old and I am not certian that 400 is 400 but it works and I am not changing a thing.
If you need help, or have questions you can IM me if you would like.

+1. Everybody has their own likes but the bottom line is they need to bake. I bake for 1 hour on 275*. Sometimes I'll even bake it a second time with more heat.
No baking, I used the heat gun to preheat & after powdercoating. I thought that curing finish w/ the heat gun was another alternative to baking as I've seen numerous videos doing the same thing I'm doing.
I have never used the heat gun myself, I heat mine with a small propane torch.
I had issues with the paint chipping until I figured out the curing proccess. I started with my toaster oven at 250 and worked my way up at 25 degree increments until I found what worked best for me.
How long did you leave them in front of the heat gun to cure them?

Like everyone mentioned they need to cure. Go to one of the discount stores like Ollies or Big Lots and get a small toaster oven. I picked one up for like $10 and I can bake upwards of 100 jigs at a time.

20 min. @ 350 is all that is required.........read the back of the bottle as some colors have different temperature suggestions![]()
wihtout curing, they will chip away in 3 casts where I fish on Pickwick.........cure them for 20 min. and I can fish with one endlessly without chipping![]()

I thought about this allot the last couple of days & I come up w/ a few things & have taken the advice of the replies in this thread. I gonna preheat the next batch in a toaster oven & to make sure they are hot enough, I'll hit them w/ the heatgun & bake them afterwards in the toaster. I appreciate all the replies.
Do you guys hang them in the toaster oven or just lay them down?
Inner peace for world peace/
I hang my on the rack that came in my oven, holds 40 Jigs really nice.
Dont lay them down or the will have a flat side where they touch the hot surface.
