    Tying Jig Skirts

What do I need and how do I do it. I currently make my own jigs, but use the rubber collars. Have seen some jigs with both. I imagine using the rubber to make the skirt and insert it and then the wire for support??

I build my jig just like you said but I come back in and wrap the skirt with wire

i use the rubber collar to hold the skirt together until i get it up the hook and then i just leave the collar down towards the bend of the hook and line the skirt up by hand and use craft wire to secure it to the head. double wrap it and pull it tight, but not too tight...then 3 twists and clip off the excess. then just use scissors to cut the rubber collar off. once you do it a few thousand times, it gets to be pretty easy

Any lure I buy with a skirt that is not wire tied, is before I fish with it. Tie it with craft wire and snip the rubber collar.

the skirt wont come loose and move around.

the wire collars wont dry rot and fall off

you can control the flare of the skirt better with wire

the only downside is attatching rattles, but it can be done with the wire, its just not as pretty.
