    Powder Paint and Weedguard.

I pour some of my own jigs. I used to paint by hand but now I am going to try powder paint. My question is what is the best way to use the stuff while using a weedguard? Do I need to pour, paint, cure, then glue the weedguard? Or should I pour with the weedguard in like I used too? If so how do I keep the guard from spreading when I heat the jig? Thanks in advance, Michael

You can glue them in after you powder coat but to do this you need to buy pins from the mold manufacture to insert into the mold before you pour. You will need to leave the pins in the jig when you powder coat to keep the paint from filling up the holes, so you will need a few pins. Or you can mold your jigs with the weed guards in and buy some Teflon tubing. cut the tubing a little longer then the weed guard and slip it onto the weed guard before you powder coat. I think you can buy the tubing from McMaster Carr. to me both methods are a little more work then I like. I paint my jigs and then coat them with Devcon 2 ton epoxy (use the slow drying epoxy, do not use the 5 minute epoxy) they are just as tough and last as long as the powder coated jig heads.

The powder paint looks good, its just alot of work. End up messing up more than what I am producing. Do you paint them by hand or do you dip them? If so what paint do you use? And do you dip the jigs in the epoxy? Thanks Again
