I did not get to go to Kerr lake two weekends ago. Are the bass on spawn yet? I want to go on Saturday the 9th. Am going to put in at Eastland.

    Many thanks, G.

Yep, most fish have yet to spawn. Very, very few bloody tails noticed during the 6 man team tournament this past weekend. Also, sustained wateer temps are barely at 62-63 overnight still.

Really? when we were on Kerr for the Region, the fish looked spawned out. I only fished in one area of the lake though.

It could be that we only caught small fish too?...

Rob like yourself I must have been in a different area as I saw a LOT of frye and many many bloody tailed fish as well as hundreds of vacant beds.

yeah i think there's various stages of the spawn on Kerr this year with the inconsistent weather.

Mike and I were in an area in Nutbush where we could see the bluegill eating the fry.

I haven't noticed a strong spawn anywhere this year. It seems as if about 25% of the fish pulled up to spawn. I'm guessing the next full moon coming up will pull most of the rest.

I am going to take a chance. Took my new boat to me on the soup bowl, aka lake chesdin to test everything out. Water temp was already 73 degrees. I have not had a boat since 91 but it seems to me the winters are milder and the water warms up alot faster.

I agree with Rob week before last there was fry everywhere in the back of Grassy!! My fish were spawning, I couldn't see them, but they were tore up on the belly and tails. Water temp back there was 74.3.

Ones we caught saturday had eggs in them still.....No question in my mind. I flopped one on the deck and thought it was peeing, but it was eggs.

THere are still some there...But I think they are in all 3 stages..

Greg, you think those we caught the other day had? Or think they were done?

    Both of them huh?

Nope Keith, I don't think they had. Out of all those fish, wasn't but one even beginning to have a bloody tail and they all still had guts on them.

Hey only 2 keepers, I caught well over 20 fish! Males were guarding fry in there.

    Re: spawn?? (Gunny)

Ok, yall have made my decision easier to make a trip to keer on Saturday. I have not been down there since 91. I use to use a spinnerbait with grub depending on water clarity. What would be a good plug or bait to use?
    Thanks, G.

Flip the bushes and get as far in there as you can. That is how the six man was won this weekend. If it clouds up they may move out to the edge of the bushes and trees.

    Good luck, HP

You better find that spinnerbait too. Wasn't too shabby this past weekend in the 6 man either.

I'm guessing the water is cloudy and am going to use a chartreuse head with brown-orange tail and grub. Any luck on crankbaits?

    Thanks, G.

On the spinnerbait was it a big leaf or small and did you use a tail or anything and what colors?
    Thanks, G.
