    Choke Canyon map

I am looking for a topo map of Choke Canyon, I can find a few different ones online, but I am not too sure how much detail they offer. Does anyone here have first hand knowledge of a good fishing topo map for the lake? Any recommendations as to which one to get? Thanks

I would use the HOT SPOTS maps you can get at Academy or Wal-Mart. They show way more structure/detail than any other map. Those maps have everything you need to locate fish. Every road bed, pond dam, well, and creek channel is clearly marked on the map.

Lowrance has a map card that is basically an electronic format of the HOT SPOTS maps. It's called a Lowrance Hot Spots map card. Don't confuse it with the Navionics Hot Maps. They are not the same. The lowrance map card won't work in a Humminbird. That's why I have a Lowrance and Humminbird at my console. I use the Navionics map card for most lakes, but on Choke Canyon I only use the Lowrance Hot Spots map card.

You'll have to locate the alligators in Choke without help of a map.

Actually, I can give you the GPS coordinates of the gators. I have most of them saved on my H-bird. Some of my favorite spots are protected by gators, so you may want to avoid these areas.

    Here's what you look for:

I was there a couple of weeks ago and saw several gators each day. There are some big ones in there for sure!

They will also eat hunting dogs that jump into the water to retrieve ducks that were shot.

Every lake in this state is LOW - no rain for a year.

The lake isn't real low. It's only about 8-10ft low right now. The fishing has been good. See:

Yep. There has been a few good fish caught right there for about 3-4 months. Real hit and miss.

    Looks like you hit.

    Nice fish.

I'll be fishing the AFT (American Fishing Trail) down there March 31, 2012. It's an ABA tournament. You may want to look into that one.
