It's a total yuppy trend and as any ither thing trendy just that. After spending a day and half in my daughter's while visiting her in Colorado they are horrible daily drivers. It was the most uncomfortable ride I've ever been in. There's was bought for a specific purpose, which most everyone out there has the need for, due to environment. Around here all the "suburvam warriors" use them as a status thing and never use them for their intended purpose just to say "hey look at me, I'm an outdoorsman and have a jeep" what a joke. The bottom line is, I'm an offroader which is suited just fine for the jeep but every day driving not so much.
Heck we grew up walking in that same sun and wind and dirt , maybe that’s what happened to me .
Jeep sales have been in a steady march up for over a decade and are what is keeping (along with some good Ram sales) FCA in the black.
I take my my kids for a ride every night. We watch my niece every Tuesday and that is all she talks about all week is her ride in the Jeep. I due agree the hipsters have been taking over though!
Barbie cars.....here.
I mostly see women driving ones that look good but are mall crawlers. There are a few in town that are set up right and they use them.
I think it is a lifestyle vehicle. Younger people look at them and envision road trips, parties out in the woods etc. They were popular when i was young and we used to go mudding in them. Was fun back then but now I'm looking more for something reliable and comfortable.
My truck is getting old (23) years and I am probably going to have to replace it within a few years. Eyeballing the Jeep pickup big afraid that it might be a little cramped in the shoulder and arm room compartment. With the doors on anyways.
When I was in my twenties I had a fiberglass body VW. Think it was a Manx or Meyer. Funnest time of my life. I grew up about 20 miles from Pismo Beach and the Oceano Dunes. Miles of beach to drive on and dunes to ride in. Use to take it to the drive-in movie theater. Thinking about getting another one someday.
Jeeps “heaps” Subaru’s and yotas in Colorado.
Jeep people “jeepeople” are always losers
I am on my 8th wrangler (2007) that I lifted and put after market bumpers and a hood, you get the picture........But they are
the worst riding vehicles on the road and lifted they are really bad...Like most lifted jeeps mine sits in the garage and comes out twice
a month but they are a fun thing, thats all they are....
Real Jeeps have metal door handles. Just like real trucks have gear boxes and linkage, not rack and pinions.
I had a '97 Grand Cherokee that was my daily driver, I liked it used 4x4 in the woods often and never an issue, it did seem to collect salt from winter driving in places that would rust out alot of places, mpg was decent, when wife wants to sell the minivan she wants to get a new jeep
My wife has a 2018 jeep Wrangler 2 door model and she drives it on weekends. She puts the top down
gets her little dog and they go riding and they both seem happy when they get home.
I tried to get her to buy a convertible mustang but she wasn't having it she wanted the jeep
and that is what she bought. Her money her toy just like my boat.
I have a lifted TJ. Absolutely love it. It's not my DD, but nothing beats running down to the store with the top and doors off on a pretty summer day. It fills a niche that would leave a significant void if I were to sell it. However, everything sucks when a frog strangling downpour suddenly appears and you're 10 miles from home. I watch the weather if I take it on a longer trip when the top is off.
What amazes me the most is the people who will buy a $13,000 oversized side-by-side to hunt/play with when they could buy an older 4x4 wrangler that would actually have heat, windshield wipers, etc while also being road legal.
BRAVO !! Almost EXACTLY the words I used when someone asked me why/how I ended up with my 1st cherokee (and now I have 2), but I haven't hunted (or fished) in a few years due to work and other annoyances.....I still DD it tho.
I have changed the suspension so it rides a lot better too as part of the lift I have on it.
I sold my Jeep a few years ago and have regretted it ever since. I’d never own one as my primary vehicle they’ve always been just an extra toy for me. I love Jeeps and building them to how I like.
They are having a surprise benefit for a terminally ill boy here in Raleigh that started this morning. He had a bucket list wish to ride in a Jeep with the top off and be standing up in the back seat with the wind in his face. The short news clip i just saw showed several jeeps parked there in a parking lot and lots of people there donating and raising money for the young man and his family. Great people do drive/own Jeeps!!! Absolutely wondErful!!
Its just like everything now. Everyone wants to have a rugged tough image. Cowboy boots with scuffs made on them. Expensive cerakote jobs on guns to make them looks "battleworn". "Antiqued" rustic furniture that costs more than regular new furniture. New Jean's with holes. Lifted heavy duty trucks that have never towed or been offroad a single time. People want to appear rough now but us rough type of folks get looked down upon lol.
Don't forget this.................

I dont get the fascination at all, just flat out not interested in owning one....I feel the same way about a Harley, but hey....if you want it go for it...just something I have absolutely zero interest in owning.
I wouldn’t mind having one to play in but definitely wouldn’t want it for an everyday driver. Never have understood the cost of them and that’s why I don’t have one.
We bought one, a 4 door. It’s a cruiser and a second vehicle. Drove it all the way to Colorado and rides real nice. The older ones didn’t ride well, these newer ones are slick and the 3.6L v6 is real nice as well. Good mileage for a lifted 4x4 at 17 mpg going 80. I can’t complain and most of all it’s nice to ride around with the top off and relax. I also have an F250, it’s my daily and boat hauler so the Jeep is a toy.
Me and my wife looked at a Glafiator today. Was the Sport which is more of a base model. 47k dollars.
Absolutely ridiculous. For 8-10k more I can buy a loaded out half tom that would put pull the hell out of it.
60k for a gladiator is obscene. I wil buy my wife a half ton first. I could add a lift kit and tires and still be below that price.
Jeeps are not made for pulling /towing. They are made for riding on and off road.
Had 3 different ones to hunt out of, most over rated vehicle ever sold. IMHO
Had one as a loaner for a day while my new truck was having some things added. That thing sucked, uncomfortable, rode bad, noisy.....
