Well this just sucks in my opinion. I was curious what happened with this deal so I went looking and found this article. Pisses me off really.

    Re: Cabela's (jbales)

Maybe they should try to get Sportsmans's Warehouse to show Cabelas that it can work. SW is a great chain store to get if they could.

Cabelas has more stores than BPS. Cabelas started it. I agree with Cabelas, I would not driver 2 hours to go to cabelas. 1 hour maybe. I really dislike going to BPS but go in cause it is close.

    Re: (Schulze)

I would drive 2 hours to shop there. I have to drive (or cruise depending on how you look at it) 2 hours to see customers sometimes and they are only in downtown Atl! I would much rather drive 2 hours west/northwest to go buy fishing stuff than 2 hours south for work!

    Re: (tomoad)

What Cabelas fails to understand that most people in N.Ga. hate is driving to Atlanta to shop!!! They in my honest opinion really missed the boat on this one, more people would be willing to drive north on I-75 to Cabelas in Adairsville than drive thru Atlanta to BPS!!!

    Re: (Bassmeister)

My understanding of the Cabela's/Adairsville issue was that some tax consessions were pulled that were promised and that prompted Cabela's to bail. Looks like some city/county individuals dropped the ball.

    Re: Cabela's (jbales)

I had not seen this thread until today, but knew about the decision.

If I were Cabelas, I'd build it around Kennesaw or Acworth because you'd have so many customers close and could easily pull from the north (which is the most populous area in metro).

Now what would be funny, however, is if one of my relatives ends up selling them some land around Cartersville or Emerson. Doug Ferguson is probably hoping that they build at Emerson so they can get all of you to come see the Hooters of Emerson after shopping at Cabelas.

BTW Michael, what's wrong with traffic? I moved further south just for the traffic.

    Re: (Rawthumb)

I have no problem going to BPS in ATL of course I'm 80 miles east of there so I have no problem with the traffic . I would rather support my local shops for my tackle needs and can get better prices for electronics off the www. But for something to do on a crummy day and when they have good sales I'll make the trip over.

    Re: (ChampioNman)

Some of the guys here on the south side of the ATL. have tried BPS in Macon and they said to them it was better. I need to make a trip and see. But like Fred said work with your local tackle stores and they will take care of ya'. I like Hammonds if I am near Lanier ...

    Re: (stratos22ssextreme)

When Bassmeister and I were heading up to Norman for their rally I didn't get to take him by my local shops here on Hartwell. I have a couple of good ones in town run by good fisherman. So to me that is the key , they know what works and what the locals need and they supply everything with in .25 of BPS so why spend the bucks. Plus if you stop by the local shops you get some good info. no BS.

    Re: (Bassmeister)

All you Ga. Crackers and South Carolina Low Landers need to hit Great Outdoors, Byrums and the Candy Store during the Rally III at Norman. Three "Great places, not all the junk stuff BPS, Gander Mtn, and the other "Big Boxs" carring, just hot stuff and priced better the the "Big Boxes", I'll give you the tour, might as well can't seem to catch a fish Lake Norman Mafia forever
