I scouted that lake yesterday for an upcoming small club tournament. It looks like there is a big park on the South end, then there is Chisolm Trail park on the lower east side, which we used. At the north end there is East Lake Fish camp which does charge a small fee. That lake is Peppergrass City, not much good vegetation on the inside grass remaining. A lot of it was barren where there was hydrilla last year. The peppergrass mats looked good.
Anybody got any pointers for a Saturday day tournament there?
Fish the outside (5 to 8 foot depth) edges of peppergrass on the northwest (close to the canal) and/or near the old boy scout camp deep hole east side of lake. Crystal/white flukes, top water early morning and redbug worms mid day. Also, early morning top water or fluke back into the reeds where peppergrass is not to thick. Worms will work also.
too bad they changed to thu eves, i used to fish it as a practice for sat nite club tnts...if the waters moving you should be able to get bit near the north canal, especially if there offshore grass, ie peppergrass.... boy scout camp area is always good.... there are some brushpiles scattered around the lake also, private ones are better, as usual.....jerkbait, spinnerbait work well in low light..plastic worm is always good , imo.....i love east lake, just dont get down there enough...never been there during the spawn, what is the most consistent mont for bedders, late january ?
Ol Man River....................East Lake now has pepper grass approx. a mile off shore and it covers a vast amount of the outside reed line. Best spawning months (depends on cold fronts) should be Mid-Feb. into early April. January can be very good if the water temps. are around 60 degrees. December and Jan. can be good for pre-spawn in open water around the pepper grass.
a MILE offshore ?? holy chit it has been a while....how deep it it growing to ? that sounds like toad citybut i really loved those reeds......
Any recent reports? Got a club tourney up there this Saturday.

how did the tourney go? I am going out to play in the pepper grass next Friday
Just won my club tourney yesterday with 12.5, and a 3 fish limit. Would've had 18.10 with our best 5. Keep in the pepper grass and flip.
