2000 Johnson 200HP trim leak down

model J200PLSS, serial number G04871228, I noticed the motor had trimmed down over 1-2 days, moved it up and 1-2 days later was down again. Any ideas what I should look for, thanks in advance.

First place to check is to make sure the manual release screw is fully tightened.

I had a 2000 225 Ficht that did this. A friend of mine told me or showed me an article about running the trim up and down thru the full system and or trimming up and letting down with the "relief" screw. he called it bleeding the system. I really can't remimber all of it but after fooling with it for a few weeks mine stopped. One thing that i did learn was to not store your motor in the up position.

I checked the manual screw, it's tight. Ark Ranger, I ran the trim up and down a few times. Anything else to check, thanks

Yep trim it all the way up and feel the back side of all the rams. Especially the Tilt ram for grooves or indentions and leaking at the wipers. Spray a little soapy water around the trim rams and the tilt ram. Look for bubbles. The top caps aren't cheap but the rams are crazy expensive. You can trim up to put the motor on the trailer stop and check the fluid level if none runs out then fill it up. Secure the reservoir plug and trim the motor up off the trailer bracket. Trim the motor down to the ground and put a piece of wood under the skeg. Loosen the manual release about 3 turns and trim the motor up for 30 seconds, then down 30 seconds. Do this 5 times and tighten the manual release screw and trim up and down.

what Champion man said sounds like what I did. Do not give upfirst time. Do it one day let it set and do it a day or two latter. Maybe you will be lucky like i was and your only problem is air.
