    Land O' Lakes Info

So the hunt for a house continues... well actually I am just waiting to finish up the rest of me renovations before I can sell this house... but I am seriously looking at the Land O' Lakes area. It is my understanding that these lakes are private to the residents in this area? Have any of you ever fished them? And if so were they any good, becuase if they are not then they lost their selling point to me.

I am also open to recommendations on other areas to live. I need to have a big city near by because of my line of work. I want lots of water to fish. I do not mind up to an hour commute.

Lake Padgett is in LOL but it is a private lake......can't think of any others there that are public at all......you may find a pond you can get a small boat into but I couldn't tell you where any of those are either.......Cary and I used to fish some small ponds back in the 80's up off of Dale Mabry near LOL but they all have big houses on them now.

Seriously look into the ins. prices there before you put a bid in on a house. As of Feb. 8 when we closed on our house in New Port Richey (in the same county---Pasco) you could only get a policy through Citizans Insurance...no other company was writing NEW policies. This is supposed to change with new legislation that was just passed.....but we all know how smooth things work when you have govt. involved in anything.....then have govt. and the insurance companies working on the problem and you will probably need a big tube of KY before all is said and done.

Lots of traffic in LOL also now. LOL is a bedroom community for Tampa....been that way going on 10+ yrs......probably increased in size 10x over that time period and not much done in way of expanding roads......they are wider mostly but it is still pretty crowded all the time. This may not bother you......don't know if you are looking for more of a country type atmosphere or more city / urban.

LOL is basicly Tampa now. If you want to be close to Tampa still look to the NE area of Pasco. Towards San Ann and Dade City. Then you will be closer to Lakeland, Harris, Kiss. & Toho. and still within 1HR to Tampon What line of work are you in? As far as Ins. mine hasnt moved my parents just got a new Townhouse in LOL and had to use Citizens. You may get around that in Dade City. If you make the move I will assist you anyway I can I can show you around some lakes and so on.

I lived in LOL for 12 years. YOU MAY NOT WANT TO MOVE THERE MY FRIEND if you are looking to be close to Tampa. It is basically TAMPA I now live in the Dade City area. As Rick states. It takes me 45 to 1 hour to get to Hichory Point on the Harris Chain and about 2 hours to TOHO and Kissimmee and 1 1/2 hours to Clermont Chain. Ridge Manor is Florida SR50 and I-75 which is a little North of me and even quicker to the areas mentioned. Psst. Please dont tell anyone else about this area. We want to keep it a quiet secret. If I can answer any questions about the area, IM me. I grew up in Tampa and am familier with the entire area. USed to fish all the ponds etc as a boy as CE mentioned. Those waters are pretty much off limits unless you know someone or live on one.

Why would you want to move to Florida? You must have a death wish. High cost of living , high taxes, high insurance ( Cars and Homes) , too much traffic and rude , stressed out people ( at least in South FL.) Welcome to paradise, The spanish speaking state.

PS. The Hurricane State: We get hit by one or two and maybe three yearly. last year was a good year, no hurricanes, Thank god for that. Also no hurricanes and my insurance went up $1200.00 more per year. Now at $ 5800.00 a year and I never filed a claim.

cept for the what?? 15,000 homes they have slated to go in around San Antonio??? I think the secret is out......and that secret is San Antonio is the next exit off of I75 north of Tampa ......SR 54 being the first exit and that is getting too crowded......

We will soon have a sign at the state line that says, "Tampa Next 132 Exits" When the kids get out of School in a few years, I am outta here.
