I've not been to this lake in a long time and am fishing it this coming weekend. I heard that the grass was not on the Decatur flats any longer. Is this true or has it come back already?

No grass on the flats... at least none that I can find!. I've fished Wheeler for a long time and grass is very sparse, and only in very "out of the way" places. There are others who fish there and know the lake better than I do that may offer some advice. Good luck fishing!

no grass on Wheeler period except for shore line grass or lily pads. I think from what I saw this week if you are fishing decatur end, stay on the channel with big jig and worm.. Lower end crank in about 10". Water has been swinging 5" either way making the shallow bite unstable right now. Maybe work some pad feilds with a toad. With current temps, if you can catch the water up I would not rule out flipping bushes. LOL, but thats just me :-)

The only green we've seen was Blow Downs Lillie Pads and some willow grass around the shore line.
