Hey guys, where is the creek that Short won at in last years elite series. If I go to pickwick I'd like to fish those cypress trees. Never been, so if alot of the creeks are like that then nevermind. Would be a area I'd like to fish some.

+1 If you value your lower unit.Navionics doesn't show any depth contours in there....or at least my chip doesn't, not to mention the bagillion stumps.
Definitely a pucker factor if you pay for your own stuff. I've run it numerous times and have caught some hawgs back there, but every time you run it, you cringe. When the water is down, it is next to impossible to get back there.

Thanks guys, how far of a idle is it? Is their cypress trees like that anywhere else?
Dont run wide open into the mouth of the slough. It can get really shallow really quick. I haven't had enough balls to run all the way to the back, but there are cypress trees scattered throughout it.
I went to Pickwick for the College Big Bass Bash Saturday and Sunday to be a camera boat and was dredding the call to get back there and film some footage. Lucky most of the calls came to cover 7 mile island the power plant and a couple of creeks. That's tough to think about going in there especially when I just got my ride out of the shop from having a hole repaired from a meeting with a rock at G'ville.
Getting in it is not a problem. If you are going down river go past the last little island (basically a tree) and cut back hard (almost a 180). You will run about 15' off of the row of trees on your right. You follow that until it straightens out and sort of ends. That's where it starts getting tricky. The ditch (i.e. channel) runs from the right bank across at an angle to the other bank where it runs a short distance and then angles back across again before turning right back left and heading across once again. Stumps everywhere through there. It's a long way back to the back, but there are cypress trees from about 1/4 mile in, all the way as far as you want to go. The key is knowing where the better areas are (meaning the areas that have hidden springs feeding them). Most of the areas back there are 1 foot to 2 feet deep. There are some pockets of 4-6 foot water too.
You also have to be careful if they are moving water. It can raise or lower 6" in a relatively short amount of time. If you aren't familiar with it, you can get caught back there.
