Avery, put me and lil' cuz down. He's working an outage at the Ferry but I think he can make it. I promise I'll have a full tank of gas.

Okay, guys, it looks like we have a dilemma. It seems like the BASS Weekend Series has moved their tournament location from the state park to Val-Monte. The problem is that Val-Monte has very limited parking and only a one lane ramp to accommodate the expected 125 - 150 boats for their tournament. My guess is this will mean that a large number of their participants will be using either the Wyeth Drive ramp or the ramp over by the Holiday Inn. I anticipate that at least a couple of us will want to launch from a ramp closer to the areas we plan to fish so I don't really know if it'll be a big deal either way but should we consider moving our tournament site to a different ramp? I remember that we launched from a ramp on Hwy 69 at the back of Brown's Creek a number of years ago that was pretty decent.

Sounds like a busy weekend on that end of the lake . It is a little farther up ,
but there is South Sauty and B.B. Comer on Hwy 35 . Some thing to ponder.

Not only will there be the BWS series, but the FLW College Fishing series will be taking off from the State Park. Also, they will be fishing from just north of Town Creek to the Dam. They only have 40 boats, but add the 100-200 boats in the Weekend Series, and the lower end looks like it will be crowded.

Avery, sounds like I'll just sight fish up at GoosePond, by the release tube. I've never done it but I have seen some real hawgs S L O W swimming right there...probably looking to lock-in on a bed anytime.

Waiting until the next weekend sounds good to me. But, I'll be there no matter. Seibold ramp is an option or Brown's Creek. That's why they pay you the big bucks as tournament director.

It sounds like the lake's going to be crowded no matter where we put in. I'd really like to avoid a potential hassle at the ramp if we can, though. That pretty much excludes most of the bigger ramps like Waterfront, Goose Pond, Guntersville State Park, etc. because they all have some of the bigger tournaments launching there. And I'm afraid that's going to be the case no matter which week we fish because of Guntersville's popularity (which I don't really understand 'cause I usually can't catch squat there!!) so I'm not sure that simply moving it to a different week will make much difference.

Avery, we have launched from the Browns creek ramp (Hwy 69 causeway) several times in the past. It has more parking than the Wythe ramp and a good bit of room for people to turn around if they are launching somewhere else. We should try to decide soon if possible since the weather is about to warm up.

There are ramps on both ends of the causeway but the one on the Guntersville (east) side is much larger.

I say BB Comer. Besides, that ramp is free, and far enough up, that we should be ok.
I really hope that ya'll DO NOT vote to move it. Like AlBasser said, my little girl has won the school, and county spelling bee and will be competing in the State Spelling Bee on the 5th.

Re: NoAl Chapter - Sign up here to fish Gunte ... (Coosa Redeye)

I'm thinking we should keep the same date and just move the "registration and weigh in" location to the ramp at Brown's Creek. The biggest problem that I see with moving to a ramp further up the lake is that it would add another 20 to 30 minutes to an already long drive for a lot of the guys. And I'm willing to bet that the lake will be totally covered up no matter where we put in or where we fish. Typical Guntersville.......

Re: NoAl Chapter - Sign up here to fish Gunte ... (AveryF)

Avery, I don't think driving from Browns launch to Waterfront takes any longer than from Wythe to Waterfront. In fact, if I had to guess it would be a little closer. When you come out of Spring the bridge is on your left. When you launch in Brown, the bridge is on your right.

Google says Wythe to Waterfront is 20 minutes and Brown to Waterfront is 19 minutes. The only place Wythe might be closer to is the State Park, but again only by 1 or 2 minutes. If people are planning to drive I don't think it will make much difference. By boat will also be about the same. Get your G'ville map out and take a look at both.

Hope this helps. If anyone disagrees please speak up.
