Where is the best place to get a hotel near Smith Lake Dam? Were coming down from Indy.

There are several good hotels in Jasper AL. I had a friend who made the Federation State Team 3 years ago stay at the warrior river motel because it was so much closer and less congested. Well 11 H&H rods sporting Shimano Curadoes and every bit of his tackle and a new battery charger later he wished he hadn't stayed there. He told me where he was going to stay and I told him it's one of those places where they come and go in shifts on the weekend but he was hardheaded. I believe the Federation had rooms at the Jameson INN. There is also a Holiday Inn Express and a Super 8 I believe. There is also some condos at Curry AL. I'm not sure of the name maybe Smith Lake condos they're at Duncan Bridge across the lake from the Marina it's a little closer to the dam than the ones in Jasper.
We reserved at the Hampton Inn......the reviews say it's decent...how many boats are they expecting for the Open?

I tried to sign up boater but was told by BASS there were 90 anglers on the waiting list in front of me. Seems like in the paperwork they said 197 boats was the cutoff but don't quote me on that. Ended up rolling the dice and signed up as a co angler.

I talked to BASS on Thursday and she said there was 9 non-boaters slots open. Myself and a friend signed up so that means there was 7 left according to them. We are on the waiting list and won't know for sure until April. I thought they would go over 200 boaters. They have before.
