NoAl Chapter - Sign up to fish Neely Henry on Sept 19th

It's time to sign up for the next NoAl BBC Club tournament which will be held on Neely Henry on the 19th of September. The launch site will be the new Coosa River Landing in Gadsden. Registration will begin at 5:45 with "ease off" at safe light, which should be around 6:15. Weigh in will be at 3:00pm.

David, which way are you going to be coming in? (Hwy 431 N, etc.)

Hwy 278 through Cullman.

I'm assuming you are going to take 278 all the way until it dead ends into Hwy 431 just North of Attalla. If so, you'll take a right on Hwy 431 (Hwy 431 South) and follow 431 for a few miles through downtown Gadsden (just keep watching your signs, you'll make a right then a left in Attalla which can be a little confusing but you'll still be on 431). When you cross over the river bridge in Gadsden, go to the bottom of the bridge and there will be a Waffle House on your right at the red light, take a right, go about 200 yards under a railroad trussle and there will be a Dollar General store on your right. Turn into the Dollar General parking lot, go directly on the left side of the building and this little street will take you into the parking lot of Coosa Landing. If this is confusing, sorry. I stink at giving directions.

Thank Don, pretty good directions to me. I found it exactly on Bing maps. I've been that way on 431 on our way to Weiss, but didn't know where this ramp was. The parking lot deal had me a little confused. Thanks again.

Count me in (Don Hill). Never got to fish with you guys before but going to try and make it this time since it's so close to home. I'm hoping my Pops will get to come, but won't know for sure until later in the week. What do I need to do, just be there early to do the paperwork? Also, I hope there is not some kind of rookie hazing ritual where first timers have to bring the biscuits or I'm going to be in trouble!!

About all you need to do is sign up and get there a couple of minutes early to fill out some registration and insurance verification paperwork. And don't listen to Todd about the biscuits either - we've been waiting since he kicked our butts so bad at Weiss trip in Sept '05 for Todd to bring 'em!!

I just got an IM from one of the board regulars who said that their club is having a two day tournament beginning Saturday morning out of the same ramp. Looks like they're gonna have somewhere between 85 and 95 boats.

It's pretty much up to whatever the majority wants to do. I'm not sure what other ramps are available so I'm open to suggestions.

If we opt to leave it at the same ramp I think we ought to at least try and beat them out if we can. After all, the definition of "safe light" is open to interpretation - just ask Alan and Harry! Seriously, though, I think it'll be just fine as long as everybody uses a little common sense.

Frankly, a bigger concern for me is weigh in. I'm waiting to hear when their's is scheduled but if it's the same time as ours, I think we ought to at least consider adjusting our weigh in time so it's not total mass confusion. If their's begins at 3:00, I wouldn't be opposed to having ours at 2:30 or so.

Coosa landing is big enough to handle approximately 100 +/- boats if every one uses common courtesy and doesn't take up two spots, etc. There is also a small ramp right up under the I-759 bridge (about 2 miles away) but it's only good up to about 20 or trucks/trailers. The next closest (decent) ramp is going to be Rainbow landing at the double bridges of Hwy 77 in Rainbow City/Southside.
