    Southern Rally 2008

Fella's for those of you that have come to G'ville and enjoyed yourselves. What if any input would you have on Rally times Dates and Locations? Please remember we need access to major interstates and a centraly located lake. G'ville has been the hub forever but how about Logan/ Martin? Any facillities on the lake? A GA/AL boarder lake would be good but Weiss wouldn't draw IMHO. Just tossing out feelers.

    Re: Southern Rally 2008 (ChampioNman)

As far as dates, I don't know that you could get too much better than the first of May.

I don't know if you can get a much better location and facilities than Covenant Cove either. They take good care of us. The rates aren't bad. And Lake Guntersville will always draw people. If you move too far south you'll miss on the TN and other folks that come down. You may pull some people from farther south like Florida, but then again they have their own get togethers so I don't know how many would actually come to Alabama/Georgia for a rally.

I had such a good time I will probably go wherever its chosen. Covenant Cove is great. And Guntersville is awesome. I couldnt imagine a better combo. And as was stated, they tae care of us at the cove. Make us feel welcome, and the rates can't be beat.

I agree with the rest of the guys if you move the rally it needs to stay up north like maybe Pickwick or Wilson, I won't say Wheeler cause Fred hates Wheeler.

I think Wheeler and use Joe Wheeler State Park would be an awesome place. If you wanted to fish Wheeler, Wilson, Pickwick, or Guntersville you could lock through.

If you guys launched from Goose Pond and stayed in Scottsboro you'd be aout mid-lake and folks could go either way. There are good accomodations there at Scotsboro and at least the Jameson is fisherman freindly and will let you park the boat at your door. Is this tx by INV. only or can most anybody enter if they want? How are things going Eric? I appreciated your help on Wheeler, wish we could have fished together. There's practically no better place on the planet to early spawn fish than Guntersville or Santee-Cooper at least in the south east.

We'll take that under advisement. , We've been going to CC for about 5 years and they've always treated up well. Perhaps we'll look at Scottsboro for next year.
Nope not by invitation as long as your a member of BBC you are more than welcome to join in the fun.

    Re: Southern Rally 2008 (ChampioNman)

I started typing a reply to this but my laptop died last night.

If it's going to be on G'ville, I can't see that we would want it anywhere other than Covenant Cove. We get to keep the boats on the water at night, our rooms are right on the water (and are quite nice), we get to cook food right next to our rooms and the water, it's quiet, and the rates are good. I really think it's a perfect spot.

That's the only reason I mentioned Joe Wheeler State Park on Wheeler. It's the same way about the water-side convenience. I personally don't want to have to load my boat each day and worry about driving back and forth to the water.

    G'ville - Conenant Cove
The earlier in the year the better (March or April)

    Re: Southern Rally 2008 (alanc)

    Alan,

I think you and Harry just come for the tournament, but for those that are more interested in just hanging out during the week and sitting around at night outside instead of just coming to watch Eric and I win the tournament, May is definitely better. The weather tends to have settled down by then and is warm enough at night to hang out for a while after dark.

No trash talking this year from me. We executed about as well as we could last year and if we hadn't have stopped two hours for lunch I'm confident we'd have done even better.

But, I digress, I'm much more interested in the time spent with fellow BBC'rs than I am the tournament this year.

    Re: Southern Rally 2008 (1niceStratos)

Sorry Jason, I didn't realize you had to be there all week to get a vote.

Since you pointed that out I vote:
    G'ville, Covenant Cove
The earlier in the year the better (March or April).

By the way, regarding your statement "I'm much more interested in the time spent with fellow BBC'rs than I am the tournament", you can also meet some of the guys at the 11 other BBC tournaments throughtout the year, not just G'ville in May. Hope to see you at a few this year.

    Regards,
    AlanC

    Re: Southern Rally 2008 (alanc)

See you at Wilson in another week. And, I have a job that requires me to work all week. That's my fault for not choosing the right field that would allow me the most fishing time. Getting up and driving three hours one way to fish a 'North Alabama' tournament on one of the only two days I get to spend with my 5-year old isn't worth it. I have the Southern Rally on my schedule and will continue to do so.

And, for the record, I think you took that a little wrong. I didn't mean that you didn't care about seeing anyone and am sorry you took it that way. It was a joke (or a stab at humor) about watching me and Eric win the tournament. It was also meant for the ones that travel hundreds of miles to sit around and socialize and don't even fish on Saturday.

And, didn't say you couldn't vote. I just pointed out my thoughts on the time of year due to the unpredictable weather and generally strong winds that can blow which would reak havoc on an unexperienced boater on Guntersville for the first time.

Sorry you took it as something toward you (guess I shouldn't have put Alan at the top of the post ), I was just trying to consider everyone.
