Few questions about Upper Bear Creek

I have been lurking this forum a while and when "Bear Creek" was discussed, I got a little interested in fishing with you folks.
I have been trying to find some info on this lake, like the Twin Forks Ramp. I can't find anything on the ramp as far as location. I found a PDF that has 4 public ramps but it did not specify the names of any of them.

I did read about the water being super clear and one of the cleanest resevoirs in the state.
Could someone give me a little insight as how this lake fishes?
I did notice a permit is required, where could I get one? and are they available over the internet?
Where is the Twin Forks ramp?
How long will it take and what is the best route from Birmingham?

about the easest way for me would be come up to jasper then hit hwy 5 and it will take you to natural bridge then for some reason the hwy changes to 13 but still same road?? but it goes straight to bear creek the shcool house is on the right it looks like you go through the parking lot and the ramp is aboy 3/4 to 1 mile first right after the bridge

David, the Twin Forks ramp is located right behind the high school in the town of Bear Creek. Here's a MapQuest link that'll get you there: http://www.mapquest.com/direct...L&2z=. When you get into town, continue on AL-13 until you get to the flashing yellow light right in front of the high school. Turn right on to County Road 85 (which immediately turns into County Road 79) and continue a half-mile or so over the bridge and you'll see the ramp on the right. According to MapQuest, it'll take just under two hours to get there from the Birmingham area.

You do have to have a Bear Creek Development Authority (BCDA) permit to fish any of the BCDA lakes which include Bear Creek Reservoir, Little Bear, Upper Bear, and Cedar Creek. Annual permits are $20 and a daily permit is $3.00. Tommy Baker has offered to pick one up for anyone that needs them. Many of the local businesses offer them as well.

There is 4 BCDA lakes up here Cedar creek, Little Bear, Big Bear & Upper Bear. Upper Bear is the lake were fishing,its a clean lake but not clear, Little bear is the clearest with ceadar being next, Big bear is the oldest and smallest,but it has a leak in the dam and has very low water now. The sites bjosh put up will give you some insite ion them.

upper bear has been a tricky lake for me to learn, i catch alot on pumpkin blue during the day and junebug red at night. i also throw a spinnerbait at night alot i usually catch alot but sometimes i dont catch a thing, fish the deep banks and drop offs fish the weed beds with a spinner bait.
