Places to stay along the Coosa river??

I'm thinking about heading to fish some of the lakes on the Coosa river, Logan Martin, Lay, Mitchell, etc. Any one know of any good motels, etc to stay in that area that have parking for boats and some way to charge batteries? The closer to any of the lakes the better.

Best western on Logan Martin is on the water with plugs for your charger. Right off I-20 at riverside..

Clanton would be the best for fishing Lay, Mitchell and Jordan. There is a Governor House in on exit 208. The same as the Lake Mitchell exit. Exit 212 will take you to Lay and exit 205 will take you to Jordon. You'll be 15 min from Mitchell and about 30-40 from Jordon and Lay.

Do you think the fish would be cooperative the end of this month? That's when I had thought about heading down there.

Fish points and drop offs, both are good when they are pulling water. You can check the time when Alabama Power is pulling water 1-800-525-3711 . But yes it will be a good time. I have been one day not catch a thing and go the next day and load up Good luck

When are you going to be here? If its in January you can borrow my map chip for the Southeast if you want. Mine is the one that goes in a Lowrance 332c.

Its the Hotmaps Premium with MMC/SD type memory card. Just let me know if you need it and you can pick it up when you get to town. It does not cover lay lake...

That is a nice offer. However, you can down load the map for Logan Martin for free from the Lowrance web site. And the rest of the lakes are not listed on Navionics web site. Are they actually on the chip and just not listed? I've been waiting for them to come out. Although It would be a shame if he came all this way and didn't fish Martin. Then the chip would probably help.

Chris thanks for the offer. I was thinking about getting a chip for the SE, I just have one for the NE. I've got Hotspots and Navionics premium. I don't think either have any Alabama lakes on it. I need to check that out before I go.

As far as downloading maps, I need to get a card reader for my computer...I may do that today and get a blank card as well.

I think the one at exit 208 is Guesthouse Inn (at least it was the last time I stayed there). 205-280-0306. It is very close to Mitchell and Jordan and not far from others. On those two lakes the fishing should be fine at the end of this month.
