More help needed for '96 FS 150

A couple of weeks ago I shared a problem with my engine. The local tech (only one "factory" tech within decent driving distance and it takes weeks to get rig back) diagnosed the lack of ignition firing to a defective ignition switch/kill switch. Replaced both and sure enough, the next morning it started right up. That was the last time. I tried for a couple of hours on Sunday to get it started and again this AM. Finally took it back to tech. His diagnostics first indicated no ignition firing, then only on the right bank, facing the rear of the boat. After it started, it would start immediately from then on but apparently running on three cylinders. I can tell he is pretty much overwhelmed with this. I have shared the previous information from Championman. My tech is reluctant to order the optic sensor and power pack without knowing for sure if that is the problem. Anything else anyone has to offer that I can give to him? I really want to get my rig going again.

Please post the model number of your engine.

From your photo it appears to be a 60 degree V6 Johnson.
The optical sensor cannot cause 3 cylinders to misfire.

The shift switch, stator or powerpack could.

You need to get the engine to someone who understands the ignition system.
Have them diagnose the problem & repair it.
It's not difficult if your tech knows how & has the test equipment.

it is about a 6 hour drive each way but I have seen people drive that far to have ChampionMan fix their boats. why keep dealing with a guy who may or may not understand or want to fix it ( is he associated with a dealship) if so he may get a commission to put you in a newer or new boat, rather then fix yours. Bring it to champ, fish the lake and go home rest assured you motor ( fastrike) is fixed.

Thanks for everyone's reply. Tech called and said running on all 6. Replaced power pack. Hope this settles it. If not, I will definitely take it somewhere else.
