What kind of motor height should I run with a torque master lower? Should I plug the top holes if so how do I do it? I'll have to run a torque for a while till i get some money for the sporty..
raise it up until the water pressure starts to drop
raise it up until it drops to about 15 to 18 psi for starter
torquemaster gearcase is good until alittle over 90 mph
they tend to blow out at 92.7 or so
On a 250 hp you should not have to plug the holes to get to the blow out speed
with a 225 you will have to plug the top two holes and raise the motor alittle higher to see 90 plus
Mercury sells a kit with the plugs. Don has posted the part number before on the 3L board.
I do have a 250 pro xs sp maybe I will be good. Or maybe Todd has a sporty for meI will run it and see first before I start plugging holes.. Thanks for the help guys

Well I bought a new 250 pro xs and I thought they came with a toque master but it has a verado case. What do you know about these? When will it blow out? Is there anything I can do to it to run better?
Might ask Don, but there was a thread recently about a Bullet with a Verado case and I believe Don said that is not the right case for high performance boats. Not sure why though, but I'm thinking if it's no good for a Bullet the same reasoning would apply to a Stroker.

THe diameter of the verado case is larger because the gears are bigger areound inside the case this is why they hold up better than any other 3L case. Titus says that you can pretty much run them with water inside and they wont blow up. You should look into getting it coned. With a coned case you will be traveling over the water not pushing the case through it.
if you cone it you might have to add to the skeg for a stroker (make it like a sportsmaster)
the swept back skeg does not run well (not enough skeg area)with a trolling motor on the nose
the blow out speed does not change from coned to unconed with out skeg mod's
with weight on the nose. they will run great with a very light troller or no trolling motor
Just my experience![]()
