I mounted mine between the tie down strap and the jack plate. It is a little bit lower than the step in the hull but well above the pad. When I am running it is out of the water but works great for both depth and side imaging when I am not on plane.

Here is where I mounted the unit.

I have a 955c on the way and see you had to mount your 997c past the console. Is any part of the screen blocked by the console while driving? I was kinda worried about the size of the unit also with the high speeds. Any issues with the wind? My mount is actually even with the font of the console so mine will be at a odd angle so I may have to relocate it. Just looking for options.

Mine is on a suction cup mount so I can move it. No problem reaching it or seeing the screen in that location.

I have run over 90 with it and no issues with wind or having the suction cup come loose or move.
